| How many times have you found
yourself with a non-bootable XP installation CD??
For example, you bought Windows XP and
made a copy of it (so the original disk will not be
scratched), but then you discovered that you can not boot
from it because you didn't made a 1:1 copy. Pffff....
You will be required to have the
following programs/tools:
- UltraISO - you can get it from
http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/download.htm.
None registered version have limitation, so you should
consider getting your version registered.
- XP Disk
- XP mini-image (I have created it,
and a link will be provided later)
- Burning software (I'm giving an
example by using Nero 6, but you can use any software
which can burn ISO files)
For making a bootable XP CD you will
need to first download a mini-image that I have created
myself:
wxpboot.iso
Install UltraISO, make it registered,
then open the software, and open the ISO mini-image that I
have supplied:

You will notice that UltraISO
recognizes the image as bootable as shown in the next
picture:

Now we need to add the files from your
XP CD into the image. Just do as shown:

After all the files will be added (it
can take up to few minutes) you will see the following:

Now we will want to save the changes
into a new Image file:

The process of saving the new file can
take several minutes. The XP disk which the files are being
taken from MUST me inside the CD Drive!! While saving the
new image, you should see the following:

If you will now try to open the new
image that you have created you should notice that UltraISO
also recognizes it as Bootable image:

Now as we want to burn the image to a
disk, we should start a burning software (For example Nero
burning rom). I prefer of using Nero burning rom and not
Nero Smart or Nero Express because I have more control over
it. Start Nero and do as shown in the pictures:

Click on the Burn and when the
process is done, then you should have a working bootable XP
installation CD.
Few notes:
- This mini-image was tested on XP,
XP with SP1, XP with SP2. It might also work with
Windows 2003 or beta versions of Windows Vista. I never
had the chance to test it.
- You should also configure your
bios so your computer will be able to boot from CD.
- I take no responsibility on the
use that is made with this manual
- I do not encourage people to
download warez version of Windows XP, or to crack
UltraISO. I'm assuming that you have a legal XP CD but
you have a non-bootable XP backup cd, and I also assume
that you bought UltraISO
