Registering a Nickname in IRC

I'm sure that you have encountered more than once with the situation that you get a message that says that you need to have a registered nick in order to join a specific channel or in order to message a specific bot.

Well, this guide will tell you how to register your nickname. You register your nickname on a specific Network (For example Rizon), and for every network that you need to have a registered nick, you will have do this process.

In order to register your nick, you need to send a private message to a Bot named Nickserv.

The registration command is:

/msg nickserv register password e-mail

Please replace the password and the e-mail with the desired one. You should use a Valid email address since some of the networks sends you a validation e-mail that activates your nickname.

In case you got a validation e-mail, then you will see that it has a line like this one: /msg NickServ confirm VmDf2Gtx4

Just copy the line from the e-mail and paste it in your mIRC (on the right window which belongs the network registered your nick on)

Now each time you connect to that network then you will need to identify yourself by sending the password, after doing so you will get a message like this one: Password accepted - you are now recognized.

In order to identify just write:

/nickserv identify password

That's it :-)
